Create two-bone relationships and path constraints while understanding position, spacing, and mixing parameters.

01

Create a transform relationship between two bones

  1. 1

    Select two unrelated bones

Ctrl-select the driven bone and the target bone. Direct parent–child pairs already inherit transforms, so the current creation logic rejects them to avoid double application.

Select two bones without a parent–child relationship and identify the driven and target bones before creating the constraint.
  2. 2

    Create the transform constraint

Use Transform Constraint in Add Relation or the TF canvas tool, then confirm its name.

Expected resultThe inspector shows the bone pair so you can verify which bone drives the other.

  3. 3

Enable links one at a time

Test translation, rotation, and scale separately. Enable one, move the target slightly, verify, then add another.

Expected resultThe driven bone follows correctly without cycles or doubled parent inheritance.

02

Create an editable path

  1. 1

Select the bone that will own the path

In Skeleton mode, select a bone and choose Add Relation → Draw Path or the canvas path tool. The path belongs under the corresponding slot.

  2. 2

    Create anchors and finish

Click at least two anchors to form a path, add the required curve segments, then finish and confirm the path name as prompted.

Expected resultA path attachment appears in the hierarchy and its inspector shows anchors, segments, closure, and constant-speed settings.

Select the owning bone before using Draw Path. A completed path should appear as an attachment; this image is not a completion result.
  3. 3

    Edit an existing path

Double-click the path to edit anchors and curves. Check constant speed and the path shape when smooth motion is required.

Expected resultNo accidental sharp corners appear and the path covers the intended motion range.

03

Move a continuous bone chain along a path

  1. 1

Prepare both the chain and target path

Select a continuous bone chain and keep the target path attachment selected as well. If you have only one bone or only the path, inspect the selection before creating.

Expected resultThe inspector shows the driven bones, target path, and target slot.

A path constraint needs both a continuous bone chain and a target path attachment. This image does not show a completed constraint.
  2. 2

    Adjust position and spacing

Position mode determines whether the start is a fixed distance or a path percentage. Spacing mode determines how bones are distributed by length, fixed value, percentage, or ratio.

Expected resultThe chain occupies the intended path interval with sensible spacing.

  3. 3

    Adjust rotation and mixing

Choose tangent, chain, or chain-scale rotation, then use rotate offset, rotate mix, and translate mix to control the following strength.

Expected resultBone orientation follows the path without excessive secondary transforms.

  4. 4

    Animate position

In Animation mode, change position at different frames or use the canvas arrows, then inspect the path-constraint track.

Expected resultPosition changes are recorded in the active animation and the chain moves smoothly along the path.

Create the path constraint before animating position. This image identifies the practice object, not a path-animation result.
